Happy Thanksgiving
Today is one of the days that we should be very thankful. But, we should be thankful every day. We should thank God for watching over us and supplying all our needs. We should be thankful that God cares for us and supplies us with our jobs, money, homes, health, families, food, vehicles and many other things. I'm very grateful for a merciful God that watches over his people who love him and live for him. I just love him and thank him for all he does for me and my family. He is a great God and greatly to be praised this Thanksgiving season.
I want to thank him for watching over all our families, keeping us in good heath, supplying our financial needs, supplying all of our needs at home and all that he does for us. I want to thank all of my family for everything they have done for us. Thanks to Mom and Dad for being there whenever we need you. My brother and sisters for being there for me and my family in our time of needs. I want to thank all my Uncles, Aunts, Cousins (1st thru 5th or so), nephews and nieces. To all my friends I want to say thank you for being my friend. To all my church family, brothers and sisters in the Lord, my Pastor and wife, thank you for being there and praying for us in times of need. To all my close friends, thank you for being there.
We all have a lot to be thankful for. Please take time out this season to let someone know how thankful you are that they are here and part of you life. Happy Thanksgiving to my parents, family, friends and all my associates close and far. God's richest blessings to you all.

Happy birthday to my Sister Vickie. Vickie is celebrateing her birthday by going into the hospital in Lufkin and having back surgery. She went into surgery at 9am and was out a little after 1pm and the doctor's said she was doing fine and the back surgery went well. Thank God for this. They said she is doing good and should be going home soon.

We enjoyed lunch together and spent some time rocking
on the porch in the cool breeze. We also did some
shopping at some neat gift shops in nearby Hemphill. It was
so good to spend some time together and hope to do it

Tim, Dad and Larry are just out in the yard taking it easy on Labor Day weekend and we are bbqing on the missile. The picture on the right, Dad is getting happy birthday sang to him at his Rosevine Church of God church by everyone in the church for his 78th birthday.

A man was exploring caves by the seashore. In one of the caves he found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn't look like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.
He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock. Inside was a beautiful, precious stone! Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left. Then it struck him.
He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of thousands, but he had just thrown it away! It's like that with people. We look at someone, maybe even ourselves, and we see the external clay vessel. It doesn't look like much from the outside. It isn't always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it.
We see that person as less important than someone more beautiful or stylish or well known or wealthy but we have not taken the time to find the treasure hidden inside that person. There is a treasure in each and every one of us. If we take the time to get to know that person, and if we ask God to show us that person the way He sees them, then, the clay begins to peel away and the brilliant gem begins to shine forth.
May we not come to the end of our lives and find out that we have thrown away a fortune in friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay. May we see the people in our world as God sees them. I am so blessed by the gems of friendship I have with each of you. Thank you for looking beyond my clay vessel.

A very old friend of the family died today, Edward Penny, has been a friend of our family for about 50 years. He was a member of the First Church of God in Orange, Texas. Services for Mr Penny will be Tuesday at 10am in Orange. The Penny's have been very close friends with our family ever since we lived in the old Riverside subdivision in Orange way back in the 50's. We all went to church together at the Church of God in Orange for our early years of growing up. We will miss him, and we will continue to pray for his family during these days of their loss. God be with the all Penny family and friends. Amen

There was a little old lady who was very spiritual who would step out on her porch every day, raise her arms to the sky and yell, "Praise the Lord"
One day, an atheist bought the house next door to her, and he became very irritated with the spiritual lady. So after a month or so of her yelling, "Praise the Lord" from her porch, he went outside on his porch and yelled back, "There is no Lord."
Yet, the little old lady continued. One cold, wintry day, when the little old lady couldn't get to the store, she went out on her porch, raised her hands up to the sky and said, " Help me Lord, I have no more money, it's cold, and I have no more food."
The next morning, she went outside, and there were three bags of food on the porch, enough to last her a week. "Praise the Lord," she yelled.
The Atheist stepped out from the bushes and said, "There is no Lord, ha ha ha, I bought those groceries!"
(Hold on . . the ending is VERY good!).
The little old lady raised her arms to the sky and said, "Praise the Lord, You sent me groceries and you made the Devil pay for them!"

Dear Family,
Some sad news today. We lost another love one. My mother's older sister Lucille died today from a heart attack. I really did love Lucille. She was always saying nice things to me, about me, every time I saw her or spoke to her. She was a very nice Aunt and I will miss her as will all of the Johnston family and friends. Please pray for this family and they go through this sad time. Lord, we asked that you be with all these families during these next few days and months, and give them the strength to endure and go on until your second coming. And Lord, we ask and pray that you continue to bless and comfort all the Johnston family, in Jesus name, Amen.
The funeral services will be Sunday at 2PM at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Louisiana. I'm not sure of the buriel site other than it's just south of Jonesboro. Please pray for them all, thanks, Ricky.
